Ndayisaba Fabrice Foundation (NFF), a group of over 150 youth football players, will on Tuesday visit the Ntarama Genocide Memorial Centre in Bugesera District as part of this year’s commemoration activities.

The 25th commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi officially started on Sunday and will last for 100 days.

Over 80 NFF mourners will meet at the Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centre (IPRC) - Kigali from where they will board buses to Ntarama.

The foundation, led by 22-year-old Fabrice Ndayisaba, is organising the memorial programme for the ninth year running having started in 2010.

Speaking to Times Sport on Sunday, NFF founder Ndayisaba said that organising visits to memorial centres holds an integral part of his organization’s mission because "it teaches children the bitter history of our country, and shows them the right direction.”

Started in September 2009, Kicukiro-based nonprofit Ndayisaba foundation uses football as a tool to get vulnerable children off streets and educate them about the Genocide and the Rwandan values so they can be responsible and accountable citizens.

During the visit to Ntarama Memorial, one of the main six Genocide museums in the country and a resting place for over 5000 victims of the 1994 atrocities, the members of the foundation will hold a one-minute moment of silence, lay wreaths on the graves and listen to different messages from a line-up of officials.

The foundation is also planning to organise their annual youth football memorial tournament in June at IPRC-Kicukiro grounds.
