Bugesera FC head coach, Etienne Ndayiragije, was full of praise for the way his team responded to conceding an early goal by fighting back for what ended up being a relatively comfortable win over champions APR on the third day of the Rwanda Premier League, on Friday, at Bugesera Stadium.

Bugesera came from behind to beat APR 2-1 as the Nyamata-based team ended APR FC’s 5-year dominance. The last time Bugesera beat APR was on June 15, 2017.

"It was a great reaction after going down. I thought we needed the rest of the half to break them down and the goal came at the right time, before half-time. In the second half, we moved it well, we were dominant in the end,” Ndayiragije said.

APR opened the net in the 26th minute through striker Innocent Nshuti. However, Vincent Adams equalized in the 45+1 minute. After the break, Bugesera came determined to win. Former APR striker Farouk Ruhinda Sessentongo netted the winner in the 49th minute.

"How we conceded the goal wasn’t up to scratch for us but I want to focus on the good things and the response. I felt we drove and drove and the players came into the game and finished the game off nicely. I’m just happy to win,” he added.

Bugesera increased the bonus of the players and coach after winning the game. Each player went home with Rfw60,000 while the coach got Rwf500,000.
