In banking, customers are not just important. They are the lifeblood of any institution. Recognising this, Bank of Kigali (BK) hosted an exclusive evening affair, "The BK Legacy Dinner", on Friday, May 3, as part of its ongoing Nanjye Ni BK campaign. This initiative seeks to position BK as the preferred bank for all, offering easily accessible services at all times.

The event was a tribute to customers who have remained loyal to BK for over three decades, providing an opportunity to honour their journey and celebrate enduring partnerships that have stood the test of time. During this gathering, Bank of Kigali unveiled the BK Ingenzi Club, an exclusive membership for BK's loyal clientele of 30 years and above.
Members of this club will enjoy a range of exclusive benefits, including access to BK Private Banking, unsecured loans of up to Rwf50 million, and the BK Platinum Card.

The evening was a vibrant celebration of music, testimonials, delectable cuisine, and refreshing drinks. Customers participated in a draw, with two fortunate winners receiving 40,000 shares in BK valued at Rwf12 million.
Bank of Kigali (BK) also recognized and honored special customers across six distinct categories.

Hotel Chez Lando received the Mugabekazi award for the best women-led business, acknowledging the leadership's innovation and success achieved by a woman entrepreneur. This award also serves to empower and recognise the valuable contributions of women in the business world.
Charles Karere was honoured with the Nanjye ni BK or Akaramata award, recognising him as the bank's most esteemed retail customer for his loyalty and enduring relationship spanning over five decades. Karere is a former BK employee who retired 20 years ago.
The Aguka award, reserved for SMEs representing Rwanda through the export of Rwandan produce, was presented to Enterprise Sina Gerard. Bank of Kigali highlighted the business's pivotal role in showcasing the country's agricultural prowess and exporting quality produce regionally and internationally.
The Umurage award, recognising sustainability, was presented to Sulfo Rwanda Industries in celebration of its ongoing success and sustainability. The award acknowledges the company's implementation of processes ensuring the continuity of operations, even in challenging circumstances or transitions.
Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International received the Ubuntu award, recognising its outstanding commitment to environmental, social, and governance principles. This award highlights the organisation's social impact and dedication to these core values.
Classic Hotel was honoured with the Gwiza award, reserved for SMEs that have been with Bank of Kigali since inception and have grown steadily over time. Its proprietor, Pierre Habyarimana, began banking with BK 40 years ago as a hardware shop owner and has since expanded his business into a multi-corporation encompassing hotels, petrol stations, forex bureaus, metals production (nails), and transportation.
In an interview, Diane Karusisi, the CEO of Bank of Kigali, said, "As the country celebrates 30 years of rebuilding since the tragedies of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, we at the bank are also marking this journey.
"That's why we're extending our deepest gratitude to each and every customer who has been part of our growth story. They chose BK for their business needs, expanding their presence while contributing to the nation’s progress."
Karusisi emphasised the role of customers in driving economic growth.

Looking ahead, Karusisi affirmed the bank's commitment to customer and national growth.
