Striker Sadick Sulley was the hero of the day as his two goals propelled Etoile de l'Est to a 2-1 win over Police FC at Kigali Pele Stadium in a Primus National League week 29 game on Saturday, May 4.
Fresh from their Peace Cup triumph in midweek, Police FC, who have been poor in the second round of the league campaign went in full force with all their top players including Abedi Bigirimana, Didier Mugisha and others in the fray.
It was, however, the visitors, led by Sadick Sulley and Gabriel Godspower, who looked threatening in the attacking third of the field.
After a goalless first half during which both teams missed a host of chances, it was Etoile who shot ahead through a fine strike from Sulley in the 75th minute.
Police FC came strongly into the game afterwards, pinning the visitor into their own half. Their dominance resulted in a goal as they made it 1-1 through Burundi international Abedi Bigirimana in the 86th minute.
With the game heading to fulltime, Sulley popped up with a superb finish in the 93rd minute to hand his team the three maximum points as Etoile won the tie 2-1.
The Ngoma-based club have now moved to 14th place on the league table with 31 points. They will host Bugesera FC in match day 30 in a game that will decide the teams will be relegated to the second division.
