GASABO - Unidentified assailants yesterday morning shot dead Rose Nyiranzisanira Bizigaba a business woman in Kimironko Gasabo District, robbing her Rwf 15 million that she carried.

Bizigaba, 49, was a beef trader buying cows in the Eastern Province and supplying beef in Kigali City and Bukavu in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

"These men come in the morning around 6:30am when all people were watching, parked their car and shot the woman to death,” said Shaban Kagame a driver of one the deceased’s trucks.

The murderers driving a black Land Cruiser jeep registered RAA 940A, has earlier been seen parked near the scene. An unidentified man later appeared, grabbed the deceased’s bag, and shot her thrice in the head and wounded the driver on his right leg.

According to Patrick Ndarishize, a nephew of the deceased, this was the second time gunmen had attacked her.

The first incident took place September last year when criminals attacked and took Rwf10m but they did not kill anyone at the time.

"This man was armed with a pistol, shot Bizigaba in the head and left her dead in the car and the driver is seriously wounded, police have come to investigate and we gave them the number plate,” Ndarishize narrated.

The deceased’s body was immediately taken to King Faisal Hospital for post mortem while the driver is being treated at Kigali Central Hospital (CHK).

When contacted, Police Spokesperson Willy Marcel Higiro said he was not yet aware of the incident.

"Just wait for CID (Criminal Investigations Department) and the field officers to feed us with the information so that we can communicate to you,” Higiro said, but he had not done so by the time we went to press.
