Rwanda National Police introduce Busanza Automated Driving Test Centre

The Rwanda National Police, in collaboration with Irembo, on May 3, announced the inauguration of the Busanza Automated Driving Test Centre, which will start offering service to Rwandan residents on May 6.

Irembo is Rwanda's leading digital platform for government services, offering citizens a convenient and efficient way to access a wide range of services online.

"This groundbreaking initiative signals a significant advancement in government service efficiency and accessibility for the public, effective May 6, 2024,” Kigali, Rwanda,” Irembo observed in a statement it issued on May 3.

The centre is equipped with a system that integrates GPS technology, car motion tracking formula, and virtual line plotting technology, with an aim to transform the traditional method of assessing driving skills through a shift to automation.

The yard features a starting point from which drivers must navigate through various stages, including slopes, obstacles (Zigzags), roundabouts, parking and gear shift changing areas.

It seeks to eliminate human contact, and introduce a completely computerised system of sitting both theoretical and practical driving tests.

According to the statement, the centre located in Busanza – Kicukiro District, Kigali – underscores Rwanda's unwavering dedication to harnessing technology for the benefit of the public.

With this state-of-the-art facility, it indicated, individuals can expect a more streamlined and convenient experience when undertaking driving license examinations across categories A, B, C, D, and D1.

Appointment scheduling for the centre, it added, will be seamlessly integrated into the IremboGov platform, Rwanda's leading digital platform for government services.

This integration enables citizens to effortlessly book appointments and make payments, streamlining the process and minimising inconvenience, it observed.

Registration will be open from May 3, 2024, through Irembo platform (www.irembo.gov.rw).

"This marks the initial step in simplifying the process of obtaining a driving license, from application to payment and testing. Individuals can now conveniently pay for their license and vehicle in a single transaction,” it stated.

Key features of the Busanza Automated Driving Test Centre include fast and streamlined payment processes, improved service delivery timelines, and accessibility for all citizens, it indicated.

Meanwhile, it observed that other centres will continue to operate as usual through Irembo.
