Dorcus Ndasaba has become the first coach to be sacked in women’s national volleyball league this season after Rwanda Revenue Authority terminated her contract on Friday

The former APR star and Kenya international was sacked alongside her assistant Jean de Dieu Masumbuko, and the club immediately announced Christophe Mudahinyuka as interim coach.

The surprise dismissal of the club’s coaching staff, according to a reliable source, was decided after the tax collectors’ side lost to newly established UTB who beat them twice in less than two months, en route to lifting the preseason tournament’s title and 2019 National Heroes Day Cup.

Mudahinyuma will be in charge on Saturday when reigning champions RRA take on former champions APR and KVC in the national volleyball league.

Saturday Sportrepeatedly tried to reach RRA team manager, Providence Mukamurenzi, for a comment, but all efforts were in vain.

Rwanda Revenue Authority lead the table standings with 18 points, three ahead of APR. Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC) are third with 12 points.

Play-offs resume in men’s category

In the meantime, the 2019 Play-off Games in men’s category resume with Game 2 fixtures in the best-of-three semi-finals as Gisagara host UTB at Gisagara gymnasium while IPRC-West will be up against REG in Karongi District.

Victory for UTB and REG would see the two hopefuls setting date in the best-of-five finals. UTB and REG outclassed Gisagara and IPRC-West in their respective Game 1 fixtures last month.
