Canada-based gospel singer Gentil Misigaro is in the country to launch his debut album Hari Imbaraga. It will take place this Sunday, March 10, at the Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village (former Camp Kigali) and the singer has already kicked off rehearsals for the highly anticipated concert.

The celebrated singer, who is based in Vancouver, Canada since 2003, arrived in Kigali on Friday to prepare for his concert with his band, comprised of locals and other band members from Canada.

The album has 14 songs, eight composed in Kinyarwanda and six in English,  most of them (eight) being brand new.

Misigaro told The New Times, that he is excited to perform in Rwanda which he has missed for over 15 years and that has a lot in store that he is excited to deliver during his performance to mark the conclusion of his remarkable album tour in North Carolina, Washington DC, New York, Texas, Ohio and Iowa in the United States and Edmundson, Ottawa in Canada, that began at the beginning of  the year.

"This concert is going to be one of a kind. I have been doing this tour all over USA and Canada and I wanted to conclude it here in Rwanda because that is where the big audience of this kind of music is. The other thing is that I have missed this country and I wanted to come back. I am looking forward to having a great performance along my band which features my siblings as well,” Misigaro said.

"I want to give my people something new so that everyone finds themselves a part of the concert. I want to see them singing, worshiping and dancing. We are hoping that everyone will be proud of this concert,” he added.

The ‘Buri Munsi’ hitmaker will be looking to share the same stage with different celebrated gospel musicians to support him to spread the gospel of God through music, during his show. The expected performers include Aime Uwimana, Shekinah Worship Team, Bosco Nshuti, Alarm Ministries and his friends from United States including his cousin Adrien Misigaro, with whom he has had three collaborations, including Buri Munsi, the most popular.

Misigaro’s name in the gospel music scene has grown and has earned him a big fan base in Rwanda thanks to his hit songs like; Biratungana, Umbereye Maso, and Buri Munsi, featuring Edwin and his cover song Hari Imbaraga. According to the singer, there are more beautiful songs thathe wants to present to his fans at the concert that demand a lot of preparations, to satisfy his fans.

"I came earlier because I needed enough time to rehearse with the band so that I can have a good show. I am looking forward to sharing the stage with artistes that I admire a lot and I can’t wait to see some of my siblings being part of the band during my performance,” he said.

Prior to his arrival at the Kigali International Airport, Misigaro was welcomed by many people, including his fiancé who he says will be happy to see at his concert alongside his relatives who also took a flight from Canada to support the singer.

 The concert fee is Rwf5000 to 10, 000 for Ordinary and VIP, respectively.
