Rwandan envoys have presented their letters of credence to the presidents of Argentina and Azerbaijan.

Amb. Mathilde Mukantabana  and Amb. William Nkurunziza presented their credentials to President Mauricio Macri of Argentina and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, respectively, over the weekend.

Mukantabana, who is resident in Washington D.C, United States, said on Twitter that she would work on "deepening our friendly relations as we continue to advance our common agenda!” 

In Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, Amb. Nkurunziza said the development marks a historic moment in Rwanda-Azerbaijan relations being the first Rwandan ambassador accredited to the Euroasian nation.

Nkurunziza is resident in Ankara, Turkey.

According to a statement, President Aliyev congratulated the Rwandan envoy on his appointment and wished him success in advancing Azerbaijan-Rwanda relations.

The President also highlighted the importance for collaboration and deepening of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various areas, including in economy, defence and security as well as enhancing trade relations.

He further expressed interest in seeing high level engagements between the two countries with hope that this diplomatic milestone "will facilitate high level official and business visits between Azerbaijan and Rwanda”.

Nkurunziza conveyed fraternal greetings and best wishes from President Paul Kagame to President Aliyev and people of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the continued good health and prosperity, the statement added.

He also expressed Rwanda’s commitment to enhanced bilateral relationship with Azerbaijan.

The envoy said that Rwanda was looking forward to collaborating with Azerbaijan in the areas of defence, aviation, energy, particularly in petro chemical industry and ICT as well as space industry.
