Rwanda Athletics Federation (RAF) has confirmed that two athletes will represent the country at the 2019 International Meeting of Djibouti on March 15.
The two middle distance runners include Emmanuel Safari (800m) and Beatha Nishimwe (1,500m), and according to RAF, they will be departing for Djibouti on March 13.
In an interview with this publication on Thursday, RAF Secretary General Olivier Umuntangana said: "Beatha is currently training in Kenya, while Emmanuel is under intensive preps at Amahoro Stadium. We have confidence in both runners.”
He added: "The main purpose to send athletes in Djibouti is to fight for qualification for this year’s World Championships.”
The 2019 edition of the biennial IAAF World Athletics Championships are due September 27 – October 6 in Qatar.
