Fashion designer Cédric Mizero on February 17 received a curation award at the just-concluded International Fashion Showcase (IFS) 2019 in the UK.
The event attracted 16 designers from 16 countries during a monitoring programme that culminated in an exhibition at Somerset House, at the London Fashion Week. The show attracted young fashion designers, who are at the head of their game and were selected specifically because they were bringing in something exciting and innovative to the industry, a statement from the organizers says.
During the runway show, each designer had a room to create a bespoke exhibition experience for the public. They were invited to present their work, and speak about themselves as designers.
This year, the event was organised by British Council, British Fashion Council, London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London, and Somerset House.
Speaking about International Fashion Showcase 2019, Anna Orisini, from the British Fashion Council, said: "Fashion is an international language that interprets culture, breaks boundaries, and asks questions that are relevant to young people.”

Mizero, 26, was among the talented fashion designers who took part in the two-week colourful event from February 11-25.
Mizero scooped the prize, thanks to his creativity, which he demonstrated while showcasing his collections he called, 'Dreaming My Memory', that tells his life story.

Over 300 designers from across the world had applied to participate at the fashion runway event and Mizero was among the 16 successful applicants.
"I am so very humbled by all your love and support – thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything," the fast-rising designer posted on his Instagram feed.
Born in Western Province, Mizero has established himself as one of the most creative designers on the local fashion scene. He is a member of the Collective Rwanda fashion network, alongside renowned fashion brands, like Moshions, House of Tayo, Haute Baso, Inzuki Designs, Uzi Collections, Sonia Mugabo and Amizero ya Cedric Mizero.
He attended the London Fashion Week just days after participating in the Fashion for All, a project through which he works with different women from his home town to illustrate the value of a human being regardless of age, size, or even their wealth.
In 2017, Mizero organised a show dubbed 'Strong Women' during which he showcased the strength of a woman, through pictures of women dressed in his creative designs.
He is expected to graduate in Fashion Business this month from London Fashion College.
