The Nigeria U-20 Coach Isah Ladan Bosso is set to face the axe as the coach of Nigeria’s U-20 team, days after winning bronze for at the African Youth Championship which winded last month in Kigali.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is to sack Bosso and his assistants over the team’s perceived poor performance at the just-concluded African Youth Championship (AYC) in Rwanda.

Nigerian local press reported mid this week that the NFF would sack Ladan Bosso and his assistant, Benedict Iroha on February 15 before setting the axe on the senior team.

It is not yet known who will replace the Bosso reigns but speculations said that Samson Siasia, who coached the country’s Olympic team, could be called upon.

The Flying Eagles finished third in the Kigali event, even though the five-time AYC winners were dubbed as the favourites.

The Flying Eagles won against Ivory Coast (2-0) and Egypt (2-0) but lost to South Africa (1-2) in the group stage.

Nigeria lost to Cameroon 0-2 in the semi-finals and revenged on South Africa in the battle for the third place play-off after a 2-1 victory. Ghana beat Cameroon to claim the title.

All the four semifinalists; Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa qualified for the Fifa U-20 World Cup in Egypt in September.
