APR coach wants more in the return leg

APR coach Rene Feller has promised Gor Mahia another beating when the two sides meet in the return leg of the Confederation Cup in Kigali in 12 days’ time.

The record nine-time national league champions gave the Kenyan side a harsh reality check on their return to continental football with a 5-0 drubbing at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.

Fuadi Ndayisenga opened and closed APR’s account and Labama Bokota also netted twice in between with Elias Uzamukunda getting the other.

The Dutchman told Times Sport yesterday that there is no secret in his team’s return leg tie against Gor Mahia.

"We must attack them from the first whistle.”

"We could have won by a far bigger margin but we missed many chances in Nairobi, and that’s something we need to improve in the return leg in front of our home fans,” Feller said.
"It may be early but we almost in the next round simple and clear. We wanted to score more goals, but I’m happy with results. Our aim was to win big.

"Gor Mahia should expect a tougher game in the return match in Kigali,” Feller said.

In a display that left Feller confident of a second round passage to the Confederation Cup, Ndayisenga left Steve Otieno for dead to fire low into the left corner of Jerry Onyango’s goal on 15 minutes.

Bokota doubled the lead on 33 minutes with a free header before sweeping the third a minute later into the roof.

Uzamukunda stretched the score to four, five minutes after restart, following some neat passing helped more by lethargic defending by Gor Mahia.

The lively Ndayisenga ensured APR finished business early with crisp finishing on 54 minutes. Meanwhile, the Dutchman expects injured goalie Jean Claude Ndoli to be fit ahead of the return leg.

Ndoli collided with a Gor Mahia striker injuring his ankle. And the 2008 Amahoro Cup winners will be boosted by the return of influential midfielder Jean Mugiraneza who missed the first leg with a toe injury sustained during the African Youth Championship.

If APR cruises past the preliminary round, they will meet Egyptian side Haras Al Hodoud in the next round.

Both APR returned to the country on Monday on the same days as the league champions Atraco, who were beaten 2-1 by Sudanese champions El Merreikh in the MTN Champions League preliminary round, first leg tie in Khartoum.
