Francis Haringingo has shifted focus on Azam Rwanda Premier League after failing to guide Mukura Victory Sports to the group stage of the 2018-19 CAF Confederation Cup.

Following their exit from the continental showpiece at the hands of Sudanese giants Al Hilal last Saturday, Mukura will be on a double mission when they take on Police FC in a rescheduled match-day 9 encounter at Kicukiro Stadium on Thursday.

The Huye-based side will not only be seeking to narrow gap to the top, but will also looking to extend their unbeaten run. After ten match rounds, Mukura have won eight and recorded two draws, respectively, making them the only team yet to suffer a defeat this season.

Burundian Haringingo, who was frustrated with his side’s elimination, says that, "The focus has now shifted to the league to try and gain maximum points” so that they can push ahead to win the title and make quick comeback to continental football next season.

"The exit from confederation cup was disappointing, and I think it’s not just us. It is a general problem, and the challenges are so many, but we need to do better in preparing for CAF Competitions.”

Mukura are in third position with 26 points, a whopping nine points behind leaders APR who have played five games more, and five points adrift of second-placed Rayon Sports.

After Thursday’s clash against Albert Joel Mphande’s side, the black-and-yellow outfit will have less than 48 hours to prepare for another league match against Amagaju at Huye Stadium on Saturday.

Victories from the two fixtures will see Mukura unseating Roberto Oliveira’s Rayon from the second spot with 32 points and three games in hand.
