According to the convention on the rights of a child, corporal punishments are illegal. A corporal punishment is a heavy punishment which can result into death or cause damage on the child’s body.

As children, you need to understand the importance of this right. It does not mean that if you do wrong you will not be disciplined.

There is a difference between disciplining and corporal punishment.  Disciplining is good because it corrects us without harming us while corporal punishment harms us.

Corporal punishments take the form of; carrying heavy loads, digging a big chunk of land, going without food and heavy beatings which cause wounds on the body.

This is why corporal punishment is not allowed when disciplining children. You have all rights to report cases of children who have been heavily punished because the authorities are there to protect you.
