Allain Kirasa has urged his SC Kiyovu players to show consistency after his side edge Musanze 2-1, on match day 15 of the Azam Rwanda Premier League, to make it four consecutive wins.
The Green Baggies have not dropped points since December 23 when they were held by AS Muhanga to a 3-all draw
In Friday’s clash against Musanze at Mumena Stadium, Djuma Nizeyimana and Jean Claude Nizeyimana netted in the 22nd and 53rd minutes to lift SC Kiyovu to 26 points from 15 games, level with third-placed Mukura who have played five games less.
"I am very happy, and proud of my players, for their performance against Musanze, they held on for the three important points despite huge pressure mounted on them in late stages of the game. This is the kind of fighting spirit and consistency we have to keep,” said Kirasa.
"It is unfortunate that we have not scored many goals, but I am happy with the result. Scoring more goals brings confidence to players, and we will continue to work hard and improve in attack because we need to be at top level,” he added.
Japhet Imurora scored the consolation goal for Emmanuel Ruremesha’s struggling side in the 57th minute.
Rayon, APR also record victories
In the meantime, champions APR and rivals Rayon Sports also won their respective weekend encounters to keep the race tight at the top, with the former leading second-placed Roberto Oliveira’s side by four points.
The Blues won 2-0 over Marines at Umuganda Stadium on Saturday, courtesy of goals from midfielders Olivier Niyonzima and Yannick Mukunzi, while Jimmy Mulisa’s APR outclassed Police 2-0 at Kigali Stadium on Sunday.
The army side top the table with 35 points, Rayon are second with 31, while Mukura and SC Kiyovu complete top four with 26 points apiece.
