On February 1st every year, Rwanda celebrates the Heroes Day. This is a day we remember all those people who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of all Rwandans.

This year’s celebrations were held at Amahoro Stadium. Rwandans turned up in big numbers to celebrate. President Paul Kagame was the guest of honour.

At the celebrations, President Kagame called upon Rwandans to liberate themselves by working hard. He encouraged the people of to follow the good example of the country’s heroes who sacrificed their lives to make Rwanda a better country.

Kagame also explained that even though the celebrated heroes had different achievements and lived at different times, they were patriotic and loved their country.

As children who will be future leaders, try to follow the heroic acts of our heroes so that you can also become heroes.
