The national senior men’s national team, Silverbacks, has been drawn in Pool B at this year’s Africa Silver Cup tournament, which is slated for June 13-14
According to Africa Rugby Federation, the Africa Silver Cup 2019 will be held under two pools with Pool A – that includes; Madagascar, Ghana, Botswana and Nigeria – competing from June 6-7.
Silverbacks will battle Ivory Coast, Senegal and Mauritius in Pool B. Host nations for both competitions are yet to be determined.
Rwanda to bid for hosting Pool B tourney
Rwanda Rugby Federation (RRF) has revealed that they are considering bidding to host Pool B competition, should the Ministry for Sports and Culture (MINISPOC) endorse the proposal.
"It is our wish, with the blessing of MINISPOC, to host the tournament,” said Tharcisse Kamanda, the RRF president.
The winner of the Silver Cup is promoted to Gold Cup, the continent’s premier tier, while the bottom side will be relegated to Bronze Cup.
Meanwhile, the 2019 Africa Gold Cup will also serve as qualifiers for this year’s Rugby World Cup to be staged in Japan.
