President Paul Kagame has sent his commiseration message to Kenyans following a terrorist attack that hit Dusit Hotel complex in the capital Nairobi on Tuesday.

So far 21 people have been confirmed dead by Kenya Police Service, including a police officer who succumbed to injuries during the rescue operation.

According to the police, 28 people are admitted in various hospitals in Nairobi.

"President @UKenyatta, my thoughts, and prayers are with our Kenyan brothers and sisters, and all those affected by the reprehensible terrorist attack in Nairobi,” President Kagame tweeted.

He added: "Poleni sana kwa msiba huu (I am so sorry for that tragedy). Rwanda and Africa stand in solidarity with Kenya in the fight against terror."

During a televised statement, on Wednesday, Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta, declared the end to the siege by suspected militants at Dusit Hotel complex, saying that all the terrorists had been eliminated.

Over seven-hundred civilians were evacuated to safety from the compound since the start of the attack through the early hours of this morning, he said.

At around 3:15 pm, on Tuesday, the attackers at 14 Riverside Drive forced their way into Dusit Hotel, by shooting at guards, hurled explosives into the parked vehicles.

Last evening, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Rwanda extended condolences to the bereaved families.
