French singer Slau00ef set to perform in Rwanda for the first time.

After taking a break in the month of January, the Kigali Jazz Junction returns in February, the month of love, with a Zouk and Kizomba themed edition.

Organisers RG Consult, have confirmed French Zouk sensation Slaï, real name Patrice Sylvestre as the main headline act, alongside fast-rising Rwandan musical new kid on the block, Yverry. The show will take place on February 22 at the Kigali Serena Hotel.

The last Kigali Jazz Junction event took place on December 7, and featured legendary Congolese Rumba legend Mbilia Bel.

"It (February) is a month of love, so we wanted to step down in the name of love. So we’re telling our fans out there who believe in love to step up the game and come dance with us as we celebrate love,” explained Remmy Lubega of RG Consult.

"Slai has been on our list for a long time because our audience has been asking for him. He will be backed by the Neptunez Band. Slai will perform alongside our very own Yverry, who is new on the scene but with a couple of love songs. We wanted to keep within the theme of love.”

Born in the Val-d’Oise region of France in 1973, Slaï is a French singer of Guadeloupe origin.

He first made musical waves in 1988, following the release of the single Flamme, that won him a huge following especially in the Caribbean region. That same year, he released his debut album Fresh, and the self titled Slaï in 2002 as a follow up, both albums gaining a huge following both in the Caribbean mainland, and in Caribbean immigrant communities in France.

In 2000, he scooped two awards at the Tropical Music Awards; Best selling song, Flamme, and Revelation of the Year (masculine).

His other albums include Florilege, Caraibes, and Escale.
