The Confederation of African Football (Caf) president Issa Hayatou officially confirmed Rwanda as the host nation of the 2011 U-17 African Youth Championship finals. Hayatou confirmed the development at the dinner hosted by the Local Organizing Committee (Cocan) to end the U-20 African youth Championship held at the Legend hotel, Kiyovu.

Hayatou confirmed the development at the dinner hosted by the Local Organizing Committee (Cocan) to end the U-20 African youth Championship held at the Legend hotel, Kiyovu.
Hayatou said, "You have made Africa proud by hosting a successful championship and for that matter start enhancing preparations for the 2011 U-17 African Youth Championship.”
"I would not like to make a comparison of how past events were organised but this year’s event was organised beyond our imaginations.
"I have been impressed with the way President Paul Kagame is being involved in football and this is why Rwanda has improved in football of recent.
"We are happy with the organization and management of this year’s U-20 Championship and we are coming in two year’s time for the Caf U-17 tournament whatsoever,” Hayatou said and hailed whoever was involved in the preparation of this tournament including Sports Ministry, Cocan, Ferwafa and Rwandans at large.
Hayatou has been in Rwanda for the past two weeks and attended almost every match from start until the end and was also impressed with the level of Rwandan football as well as of African level.
Ghana won the Africa Youth Championship on Sunday after beating giants Cameroon 2-0 in the final.
Striker Ransford Osei scored both goals in either half to secure the Black Satellites third continental title for African U-20 football.
Five-time winners Nigeria settled for a bronze medal after a 2-1 win over South Africa in the third place play-off final on Saturday.
South Africa was rewarded the fair play team trophy for their credible football in this tournament.
