This match mirrored their previous clash on November 25, 2023 in Ngoma District, where the Tanzanian team won 5-4 after a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw.
Before their latest game began, a minute of silence was observed to honor the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
During his pre-match speech, the Mayor of Bukoba District, Erasto Yohana Sima, emphasized that these matches aim to foster the spirit of friendship between the two countries, a sentiment consistently demonstrated by Presidents Paul Kagame and Samia Suluhu Hassan.
RDF's 5 Division oversees security in Eastern Province bordering Tanzania, while TPDF's 202 Brigade is responsible for security on the Tanzanian side. Also present were TPDF's 202 Brigade Commander Brig Gen Gabriel Elias Kwiligwa and RDF's 5 Division Commander Col Justus Majyambere.
