Having no regrets
Thursday, January 10, 2019

In this world with all the chaos that takes place around us, sometimes we forget that we only have one shot at the precious life that God gave us.

What we do, say, wear, or how we act, is constantly judged out there. The older generation and our leaders of today do have our best intentions at heart because they want to witness the younger generation succeed in all aspects of life; be it in their careers, health wise and building themselves on a personal level.

I am sure we have all heard about the tragic and devastating death of Alexia Uwera Mupende, a top Rwandan model. Her shocking death came as a bitter wake up call to many young people around the country. One minute you could be living your young successful life, looking forward to tackling the world some more, the following morning, the next thing you know, you are not there to see another day.

Mupende had her whole life a head of her, not to mention the fact that she was getting married next month.

I have come to understand that we can’t squander our time procrastinating and waiting to pursue our dreams tomorrow. There is a saying that goes "tomorrow is never promised”. We are not certain that we will go to sleep at night and wake up in the morning. So I believe that it is now or never. Let it not be "I am going to do it”, let it be "I am doing it”.

When you are still young, your mind is very active and productive. You are capable of thinking faster than people who are much older. Why not use this when we can?

With our young minds, we can be able to grab the torch of unity, hard work, and love for our country that our forefathers passed on to us and build a better nation. It is never too early to work on attaining your goals.

We should be able to live our lives in the moment so that "regret” isn’t in our vocabulary. If there is anything that this short precious life has taught us, it is to do every single thing in mind that you think is beneficial to you and society, while you still can.

Let us all strive to learn as much as we possibly can because knowledge of any kind is the key to having a fruitful and successful life.
