Kiyovu                2-0      Police

Police FC head coach Albert Joel Mphande has insisted he is not under pressure despite his side’s slow start in Azam Rwanda Premier League this season.

The law enforcers suffered another huge blow on Friday as they lost 2-0 at the hands of SC Kiyovu at Mumena Stadium on Friday.

The defeat means that Police have only registered one victory, against rivals Rayon Sports, in their last four games. They were held by Sunrise to a 1-all draw before losing 3-1 to Bugesera.

Cameroon-born forward Armel Ghislain broke the deadlock in the 82nd minute from the spot before Djuma Nizeyimana made it 2-0 after two minutes.

"I’m not under any pressure even though everything seems to go against us. We need to win a couple of consecutive games and boost our confidence again,” said the Zambian tactician.

He further cautioned his players, "We know we are making mistakes, definitely we can do better. The strikers should score goals, and defenders should keep it together and avoid mistakes.”

The 2015 Peace Cup winners were in the title race along with Mukura, Rayon Sports and defending champions APR FC early on in the season, but have since dipped in form and slumped to fifth position with 20 points, six adrift of leaders APR after 12 rounds of matches.

Ideally, any coach of a top club would be coming under pressure, at least from fans, but not Mphande, who remains adamant despite two defeats in ten days.

Police suffered a setback in their pursuit for a first league title when they drew 1-1 with Sunrise, before suffering a shock 3-1 home defeat to Bugesera, followed by the loss to Kiyovu.

Meanwhile, Kiyovu have jumped to fourth place, level with Police at 20 points, having also won six games, drawn twice and lost five times, respectively.

Marines seek to end Mukura’s unbeaten run

In the meantime, Marines will be looking to end Mukura VS’s unbeaten run when the two sides face-off at Umuganda Stadium on Sunday.

Francis Haringingo’s side, who are fresh from beating APR, are the only unbeaten team in the topflight league this season, and will be looking to stretch their stunning run to fourteen games in all competitions.

Mukura will be without the service of their captain Hussein Ciza who is suspended due to three accumulative yellow cards.

Elsewhere on Sunday, APR host AS Muhanga at Kigali Stadium while Bugesera will be up against strugglers Amagaju at Nyamata grounds.
