Sunrise striker Jules Ulimwengu has set his sights on the Golden Boot this season following his sharp start to the 2018-19 Azam Rwanda Premier League season.

The Burundian prodigy has netted eight times for the Nyagatare-based side, two goals ahead of Rayon Sports duo of Micheal Sarpong and Bonfils Caleb Bimenyimana.

Ulimwengu, 19, joined Sunrise at the start of the season and has since been the team’s most influential player, with his eight goals making up 57 per cent of the whole team this term.

In an interview with Times Sport on Wednesday, Ulimwengu stated that he believes he can win the Golden Boot and is focusing on getting the job done.

"I have to work hard in every game, and in training”. It’s still a bit too early and any striker can win it, but if I keep the pace and don’t suffer injuries, definitely I will be in the race for the prize till the last day of the league,” he said.

Ulimwengu started his football career with LL S4A FC in Burundi and later, featured for Vital’O FC and Saimix in the country’s top tier league. He is scored four goals as Vital’O beat rivals Inter Stars 5-1 in 2016.

On Saturday, free-scoring Ulimwengu will be looking to  increase his goal tally when Sunrise travel to Nyakarambi grounds for a league clash against strugglers Kirehe.
