Sammy Mulinge, the APR volleyball club head coach, has urged his players to aim high as the military side battle for a top-four finish in the 2018/2019 national volleyball league.

After seven games this term, the former regional giants are in sixth position – second from the bottom – with only 5 points.

The black and white outfit’s next game will be against bottom side Kirehe at Amahoro Indoor Stadium on January 5, four days before facing two-time reigning champions and table leaders Gisagara.

"We started poorly this season, but we can’t give up yet – that’s not who we are. I have urged the players to keep their heads up high and fight to turn our fortunes around,” said Mulinge.

"We have young players, with very little experience in the league. Saying that we are in the race for the league title would be premature, but a top-four finish is still possible and that’s what we are targeting now. We should qualify for the playoffs.”

APR finished in fourth position last season, behind Gisagara, REG and UTB.
