Six out of 38 contestants of "I am the future” on Saturday night qualified to go through to the grand finale slated for December 29 at Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village.

The finalists were revealed during the third eviction held on Saturday at Hotel de Milles Kiyovu at 6pm.

The battle session of the night was also graced by popular artistes including Israel Mbonyicyambu, Mani Martin and Serge Iyamuremye.

The six finalists are Desire Mubogora, Yayeli Niyitegeka, Lionel Mugisha, Janviere Uwamahoro, Lillianne Umwiza and M France Gusenga.

The overall winner will walk away with a cash prize of Rwf15 million while the first runner-up will pocket Rwf7 million in addition to a two-year recording contract for the two winners at Future Records.

Themed ‘My Talent, My Opportunity’, the competition is co-organised by Future Records and Miracle Transporters with the aim of detecting and promoting new music talent from across the country.

From December 3, the contestants have been at Excella School in Kimironko for a month-long boot camp. They have been attending eviction sessions during the weekends before a panel of judges made up of Gospel musician Tonzi, Producer Nikola Mucyo and former Tusker Project Fame judge, Ian Mbugua.

Contestant Yayeli Niyitegeka is a worshiper at Kingdom of God Ministries and a student at University of Kigali. She is happy about how far she has come in the competition.

"None of the competitors is easy. The battle is not easy either. I am grateful for the chance to continue. Apart from the awards, the competition gives us experience. I have learnt a lot through trainings in the camp,” Niyitegeka said.

Desire Mubogora, a graduate of Nyundo School of Music and Arts and a singer with True Promises Ministries promises a great performance during the final battle.

"I will use my talent. I am not afraid of anyone in the competition, I have been performing to win the judges over,” he said.

For Lionel Mugisha, a year four student at Nyundo School of Arts and Music, the lessons acquired during the previous sessions will help him stage an impressive performance.
