The fifth edition of the annual Special Holiday Inter-Club swimming championship takes place on Sunday at Cercle Sportif de Kigali.
Four clubs, including the defending champions Thousand Kilo’s, have registered for the one-day multi-category competition. Others include; Rwamagana Canoe and Aquatic swimming club, Rubavu-based Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle club and the hosts Cercle Sportif de Kigali.
According to Rwanda Swimming Federation (RSF), the previous editions have rubbed off positively with a pool of young talents emerging from schools.
Thousand Kilo’s swimming team are the defending champions, having won the 2017 edition, and if they are to reclaim the title, they will have to overcome stiff competition from last year’s first runners-up Cercle Sportif and second runners-up Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle.
A total of 123 swimmers have registered to part take in the competition in different age groups; 10-13, 14-17, 18-21 and those above 22 years.
