Rayon Sports will be eager to overcome Espoir in the Azam Rwanda Premier League when the two sides square off today at Kamarampaka Stadium in Rusizi.

Following their 2-1 defeat to archrivals APR last Wednesday, Rayon beat AS Muhanga 1-0 on Saturday and head coach Roberto Oliveira ‘Robertinho’ Goncalves de Calmo said yesterday that his team will seek to build on their latest triumph to close the gap on the teams ahead of the game in the table standings.

"Espoir have made a strong start to the season and I expect them to bring the game to us in front of their fans and we’ll need to be on top of our game not only to contain them but also take the game to them,” the Brazilian told Times Sport

While the blues will expect a tough outing they will be hoping that their Ghanaian forward Micheal Sarpong – who has scored six goals in the last eight games – continues his prolific form against the Rusizi side.

Espoir are seventh with 13 points and their interim coach Saidi Abedi Masidi is optimistic about his team’s chances against the eight-time Rwandan champions.

Espoir are fresh from a 3-2 win over Sunrise on Sunday.

"We are in a good position to win the game and have worked on every aspect of our game because we know we are facing the best team in country,” Makasi said.

The former Amavubi striker added, "We have had fairly good performances both at home and away and we hope to maintain that run.”

In other matches, on Tuesday, Marines will host Kirehe at Umuganda Stadium, while Sunrise will be looking to overcome Police at Nyagatare turf despite having lost their last two fixtures.

On Wednesday AS Kigali will be looking for their third win of the season, against Gicumbi at Kigali Stadium, while Mukura will be hosting Amagaju at Huye Stadium in the Southern Province derby.

Etincelles will be hosting their former coach Emmanuel Ruremesha who will be visiting with Musanze at Umuganda Stadium.
