After helping his team to bounce back from mid-week defeat to APR with a 1-0 victory over AS Muhanga on Saturday, Rayon Sports skipper Thierry Manzi has urged his teammates to stay focused and hungry for winning consistency.
Michael Sarpong was the hero of the day after scoring the lone goal in the 48th minute, which took the blues’ points tally to 18, from six wins out of nine games.
"Yes we have lost big matches against Mukura, SC Kiyovu and APR, but we have to remain unshaken and focus on the games ahead. We learnt from every mistake we made that led to the defeats, and that will help us in how we prepare and approach future games,” said Manzi.
Ghanaian striker Sarpong now leads the top-scorers chart with five goals, along with SC Kiyovu’s Djuma Nizeyimana.
Manzi added, "We played a good game as a team today, the combative spirit was key and I hope we keep it and fight not to drop points again.”
Eight-time champions Rayon travel to Kamparampaka Stadium on Tuesday for a tricky encounter against Espoir on match-day 10 of the 2018-19 Azam Rwanda Premier League.
Bugesera end APR’s perfect start
Bugesera held APR to a 1-1 draw on Sunday at Nyamata grounds to finally end the military side’s streak of six straight wins this season.
APR and Mukura are joint leaders of the table standings with 19 points each. However, APR are ahead courtesy of a better goal differential (11) compared to Mukura’s seven.
