Rwanda Energy Group (REG) beat the University of Tourism Technology and Business Studies (UTB) in four (3-1) sets on Saturday to dislodge them from the second position in the national volleyball league.
Skipper Flavien Ndamukunda, left-attacker Olivier Ntagengwa and centre player Peacemaker Twagirayesu were on clinical form as the REG-sponsored side overcame Fidele Nyirimana’s hopefuls.
The victory took them to 18 points, one adrift of table leaders Gisagara who also beat IPRC-East on Saturday at Amahoro Indoor Stadium.
UTB are in third place with 14 points.
REG took the first two sets, 30-28, 25-21, before UTB pulled one back 25-18 to make the score 2-1.
A resurgent Benon Mugisha’s REG side finished off the job with a 25-23 fourth set to register their sixth win of the season.
