Rwanda Energy Group (REG) are keen on beating UGB when the two sides face off in the Bank of Kigali National Basketball League on Friday night at Amahoro Indoor Stadium. According to REG head coach, Patrick Ngwijuruvugo, the target is to maintain their perfect start to the 2018/2019 season for as long as possible as they seek to dethrone champions Patriots.

After three match rounds, unbeaten REG lead the table with 6 points.

Last Friday, the 2017 champions overcame Espoir in a hard-earned 74-61 victory to stretch their winning run to three victories, having previously beaten IPRC-South and Rusizi.

"We won’t be complacent, that’s what cost us the title last season. We have to keep focus and approach every game as if it’s a final,” Ngwijuruvugo told Times sport on Thursday.

After Friday’s clash, REG will head to Huye District for another weekend game against the University of Rwanda’s College of Arts and Social Sciences (UR-CASS) who are back in the league for the first time since 2016.

The Huye-based side are under the tutelage of former Espoir and REG head coach, Jean Bahufite. He is a former assistant coach of the national senior team.
