Editor,

I would like to thank Mary Baine, the Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), Commissioner General and her team for their exemplary measures towards fighting corruption.

According to yesterday’s issue of The New Times, the authority fired 19 officials on allegations of corruption, abuse of office and mistreatment of taxpayers.

Exposing them scares other people, in that whoever has been involvied in corruption will hopefully opt to drop the habit. If all organisations in the country take up a responsibility to expose wrong doers, then our nation’s professional ethics are bound to get better and better as we struggle to wipe out such vices.

The public should however watch closely and be well informed about these officials that have abused office, or else taxpayers’ money will be swindled from those who are not yet aware of the particular culprits.

Good work RRA.

Muhima
