Gicumbi Vs Musanze
Mukura Vs AS Muhanga
Police Vs Marines
Bugesera Vs Kiyovu
Gicumbi will be fighting to end their winless run in the 2018-19 Azam Rwanda Premier League when they host Musanze in a match-day 7 clash at Gicumbi Stadium on Friday afternoon.
The Gicumbi District-sponsored side are at the bottom of the 16-team league table with one point after six match rounds, having suffered five defeats and earning one draw.
On the other hand, Emmanuel Ruremesha’s Musanze are in tenth position with seven points.
Head coach Abdul Bekeni Bizimana has appealed to his players to take the Musanze clash "a bit more seriously” than the previous six games and aim for "nothing but a victory” on Friday.
"It’s no secret that we are having a difficult start to the league but I’m confident we can do better and we will. We have to put all our disappointments behind us and focus on turning our fortunes around, starting against Musanze,” Bizimana told Times Sport on Tuesday.
He also noted that, "We had little time to prepare for the new season, even the club management was not ready, which is why we are still struggling. However, we are working on it together as a team.”
Gicumbi had been relegated from the topflight league at the end of the 2017/2018 season after finishing second from bottom but bounced back immediately following the withdrawal of Intare FC who turned down their promotion and opted to remain in the second tier league instead.
Having only picked up one point from a possible 18 points, Gicumbi are three points behind AS Kigali, Etincelles and Amagaju who rank from 13th to 15th position with 4 points apiece.
APR are leading the table with 15 points, two ahead of Mukura who are in second position. The two teams have played one game less.
In other matches on the menu for Friday, Mukura will host AS Muhanga, Police face Marines, while Bugesera will be up against SC Kiyovu.
