Vision FC wasted no time taking the lead after just two minutes through Rashid Mutebi’s goal before Omar Nizeyimana's clinical strike in the 25th minute doubled the visitors' lead to silence Gicumbi FC and its home supporters at Gicumbi Stadium.
Gicumbi, who have recently been struck by financial woes, struggled to respond as soon as they could as the pair head into halftime break with a 2-0 score in Vision FC's favor.
With the outcome all but sealed, Vision FC exercised control in the second half, confidently passing the ball around their midfield as dispirited Gicumbi FC players offered little resistance little to hope to bounce back.
As the clock ticked down to fulltime, midfielder Richard Nshimiyimana delivered the final blow, scoring Vision FC's third goal to secure a resounding 3-0 win and return to Kigali with heads held high.
The win helped Vision FC maintain their slender four-point advantage over Espoir FC as they look to finish the regular season at the summit of Group B with three games left to play.
Elsewhere, in the Group B, Espoir FC’s battle of the top of Group B table with Vision FC took a major boost after beating Nyagatare FC 2-0 victory. The Rusizi-based side are now four points shy of leaders Vision FC although they have one game in hand.
Meanwhile, AS Muhanga made short work of Interforce FC, downing them 3-1 in a convincing performance.
The battle for the playoffs remains fiercely open, and the final three games promise to be packed with action and suspense.
