APR FC will host Kiyovu Sports at Kigali Pele Stadium on the afternoon Saturday, April 20, needing at least a draw to clinch their fifth successive Primus National League title.

It has been a great campaign for the army side which remains the only unbeaten team in the league after 26 rounds of games.

They face Kiyovu who have twice bottled up the league title in the two previous seasons, faltering in the decisive games to surrender the title to APR FC. The Mumena-based side has not been convincing this season and administrative and financial problems have been biting deep into the team which currently sits 7th on the table with 37 points.

In their 16 previous meetings since 2016, APR recorded nine wins against Kiyovu’s two while other five meetings ended in draws.

The last time Kiyovu picked a win against APR was on May 14, 2022.

The Green Baggies are coming into the game with full confidence and looking to end Thierry Froger’s side’s unbeaten run but to also make the team once again wait for their title celebrations until the next match day.

Before the commemoration break, Kiyovu thrashed Sunrise FC 4-0 and coach Joslin Bipfubusa will be expecting his charges to replicate the same masterclass against APR.

Kiyovu's stronghold is their attack. Richard Kilongozi and Alfred Leku have been clinical upfront and, on any good day, they can cause incessant problems for any defender in the league.

Nevertheless, APR have their destiny in their own hands. A 2-2 draw against AS Kigali delayed their title celebrations but this time around, a single point would be enough for them to clinch the title.

Thierry Froger may not make much changes to the squad that he used against AS Kigali with Gilbert Mugisha, Alain Kwitonda Bacca and Victor Mbaoma are likely to start upfront. The only change could see Sharaf Eldin Shaiboub replacing either Taddeo Lwanga or Ismail Nshimirimana in central midfield.

It will be a great game with APR being favorites to amass the three points at stake to final add the title to their trophy cabinet.
