RWANDA Cycling Cup 2018 resumes on Saturday with the Central Challenge race as riders compete from Musanze District in Northern Province to Muhanga District in the south.

The senior and U23 riders in men’s elite category will depart from Musanze town at 9:30am and navigate through Ngororero District before finishing the 126km ride in Muhanga District.

As for the junior male riders and women, they will be flagged off from Mukamira at 9am and will use the same finish-line in Muhanga, racing to a total 100 kilometres.

The Central Challenge is the second-last on the 12-race Rwanda Cycling Cup calendar.

The one-day race will attract riders from all the local clubs, including; Les Amis Sportifs, Kigali Cycling  Cup, Benediction Cycling Club, Karongi Vision Sports Center, Muhazi Cycling Generation Club, Nyabihu Cycling Team, Fly Club and Cycling Club for All.

Moise Mugisha, 21, leads Fly Cycling Club, hoping to make it two consecutive victories in this year’s Rwanda Cycling Cup following his Karongi Challenge triumph last month.

Noticeably, the race will be lacking some of the star riders such as injured duo of Jean Bosco Nsengimana and Bonaventure Uwizeyimana as well as Europe-based quartet of Samuel Mugisha, Joseph Areruya, Jean Claude Uwizeye and Valens Ndayisenga.

Reigning national champion Didier Munyaneza, Rwanda Cycling Cup holder Patrick Byukusenge, Janvier Hadi and veteran Gasore Hategeka are the famous names in today’s race.

The annual domestic cycling championship, which is in its fourth edition, is organized by Rwanda Cycling Federation in partnership with Skol brewery and Cogebank.
