AS Kigali wasted many chances as they were held to a goalless draw by Libyan side, Al Nasr at the Huye Stadium in CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday.
The Kigali City sponsored club were the better side on the day but failed to translate the dominance into goals as they squandered all the chances.
After the early exchanges, the first clear chance of the game fell to Hussein Shaban in the 24th minute as he deprived his marker off the ball but saw his strike miss the target narrowly.
AS Kigali skipper Haruna Niyonzima pulled a trigger from 30 yards in the 27th minute but the Al Nasr goalkeeper was alert as he saved the ball to the relief of his players.
Another clear cut chance fell to Hussein Shaban in the 30th minute after he exquisitely controlled a cross from Haruna Niyonzima but with the opposing goalkeeper at his mercy, he hit his effort off target.
AS Kigali ended the first half the better side though the score line still remained barren.
The second half saw Al Nasr trying to stabilize their midfield with Mohammed and El Ghanny and it worked to some extent as they were able to stop Olivier Niyonzima and Rashid Kalisa from being effective.
Felix Kone made way for Man Ykre as AS Kigali coach Andre Casa Mbungo decided to play two attackers.
Al Nasr decided to pack the defense and it made it difficult for AS Kigali to penetrate despite playing two strikers as they had no space to operate.
The last five minutes saw Al Nasr defending gallantly and they could have snatched a late winner in the final minute of injury time as a swift counter attack saw Youssef's effort missing the target by inches.
