Editor,

Let Uganda and Rwanda employ more personnel to handle the increasing number of people at the borders. I am not happy with the speed at which passengers using the Katuna and Gatuna border posts are being cleared.

The slow rate at which the officers handle the passengers affects the turn around rate and this results into government losing revenue.

It so happens that there are a few immigration officers handling the increasing number of travellers using the borders. Ten years ago, two or three officers used to handle passengers at each side of the border.

It is surprising that the same number has been maintained. Is it not clear that the number of buses moving from Kigali to Kampala and vice-versa is increasing per year?

Why shouldn’t more people be employed to quicken the clearing process? Those of us who use the night buses from Kampala even face it rougher because we always meet about four other buses at the border.

Clearly, with the few immigration officers handling the increasing number of travellers, delays are usually experienced.

We do not want to spend more than two hours at the two border posts anymore.
