Rayon Sports coach, Roberto Oliveira Goncalves has paid glowing tribute to the superb partnership between Bonfils Caleb Bimenyimana and Micheal Sarpong following his side’s 3-0 Azam Rwanda Premier League win over lowly Bugesera.

Bimenyimana was the hero of the night with a brace, and a missed penalty, as Rayon Sports ran riot at Kigali Stadium with the effortless victory on Thursday.

The Burundian import opened the scoring after 28 minutes from the spot after Ghanaian striker Sarpong was brought down in the penalty area by Bugesera defender Anaclet Muhire. He completed his brace in the 77th minute, having failed to convert his second penalty seconds into the second-half which had resulted from Eric Rucogoza’s foul on the player in the box.

Bimenyimana’s blossoming partnership with newly signed Sarpong has inspired the Blues to four wins – in five league games – so far this season and the pair will be gunning for more goals when Rayon Sports face rivals SC Kiyovu at Mumena Stadium on November 30.

The two strikers have scored a combined seven out of ten goals the entire team has scored in their first five league games.

"There is no any other secret apart from the team spirit and determination to get job done despite the odds. Bonfils and Sarpong are doing great, and it’s a result of hard work. They are strikers who are able to unbalance the opposition and that helps the team a lot,” said Goncalves.

The win took Rayon Sports to 12 points, three points behind archrivals APR and one adrift of second-placed Mukura.

The topflight league entered a two-week break on Thursday for international football and will be resuming with match-day 6 on November 29.
