After a successful first edition of Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Liberation Cup Tournament, the second edition commenced in Kigali on Monday, April 15, with teams this time looking hungrier for glory than before.
The tournament is taking place on a special occasion to celebrate Rwanda's 30th Liberation Day, blending sportsmanship with national pride in a harmonious display of unity and strength.
Rwandans mark Liberation Day every July 4.

A total of 17 RDF Units/Formations are attending the 2024 editions across various sports disciplines including Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Handball, Netball, Athletics, and Shooting among others.
Grouped into four categories, the teams will embark on a multifaceted journey across various locations to partake in the tournament.
As an annual event, the tournament adheres to national and international sports rules, fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship among RDF Units/Formations.
The Republican Guards (RG) and RMA-Gako emerged champions of the 2023 inaugural tournament with the former winning the silverware in football while RMA-Gako won both Volleyball and Basketball tournaments.
Organised by the RDF, the Liberation Cup tournament serves as a platform for not only strengthening force morale and civil-military cooperation but also commemorating the momentous occasion of Rwanda's Liberation Day, where citizens and servicemen alike can unite in celebration of the nation's triumphs.
