In a tight game played at Gahanga Cricket Over on Sunday, Telugu Royals beat Right Guards by two wickets to qualify for the Unimoni Premier League Division 1 men final.
The Royals won the toss and elected to bowl first; batting first Right Guards were 85 for 5 in 21.2 overs when rain interrupted play, after the DL calculation Telugu Royals set a target of 114 in 21 overs. Which they chased in 20.4 overs for the loss of 8 wickets with 2 balls to spare thanks to team captain Shiva samba who scored 31 runs off 27 balls and was ably supported by Yogesh Dilip Kulkarni who put on 23 runs off 22 balls.
Francis Tumukunde made 15 runs off 20 balls as Ramu Morampudi scored 7 runs off 6 balls not out. Victory for Telugu Royals means they will take on the Challengers in what is expected to be a thrilling Unimoni men’s Div I final this year.
Meanwhile, in the other games, Spartans Cricket Club XI beat Titans by 8 wickets in the men Division Two game at Kicukiro on Sunday.
Titans batting first only managed to score 37/9 in 12.1 thanks to the bowling of Debashis Samal who took 5 wickets for 14 runs in 7 overs.
Chasing the small target Spartans got it with the loss of only two wickets, Lunar Imran top-scored for Spartans with 15 runs off 27 balls as Feroz Sheikh posted 9 runs off 14 balls.
In the women’s Division 1 category at Gahanga, White Clouds were well up to it beating Indatwa Hampshire by 82 runs.
White Clouds won the toss and opted to bat first putting on 121/10 in 33.2 overs, and, in return, Indatwa managed 39/10 in 15.3 overs.
In the women’s Division 2 games hosted at Kicukiro, with Oasis Cricket club beating Queens of Victory by 9 wickets.
Batting second, Oasis put in 76/1 in 10 overs while the Queens had managed 75/10 in 13.1 overs. Diane Ishimwe was the star player of the match after she put on 34 runs off 35 balls for Oasis.
Ndera Cricket Club lost to Phoenix by 6 wickets, opting to bat first; Ndera put on 65/9 in 20.0 overs. Phoenix scored 66/4 in 12.5 overs.
Jeanette Kayitesi contributed 12 runs off 22 balls to victory for the Phoenix.
