SOUTHERN PROVINCE

KAMONYI — Youths in Karama Sector have initiated a community development programme intended to help vulnerable youth get shelter.

About 200 youth under Tuzamurane Association had set out to undertake the project  during Umuganda - community work- under the theme "Mutual support in the village settlement programme.”

"14 houses have so far been built through the youth’s initiative and the Kamonyi district officials have adopted the programme in order to disseminate this initiative to other communities’, said Wellars Nsabimana, the group representative.

On Wednesday, provincial, district and security officials who included Fidel Ndayisaba, the governor of the Southern Province, inspected the group’s activities, and commended them for being exemplary and urging them to commit their efforts to development.

During the tour by the officials, they joined the youth group in preparing an area where other houses could be built for the needy in the Sector.

Governor Ndayisaba urged Karama youths to spread the initiative to other residents while urging residents to adopt family planning.
