The top two sides in the event will progress to the qualifiers of the 2010 U19 World Cup in South Africa. Presently, a 20-man provisional team under the tutelage of Emma Byiringiro, a senior member of the national cricket team has continued its steady build up at Kicukiro.

The team which started training last month currently trains over the weekend and is said to be making steady progress.

"The lads have been training since December and all I can say is that there is good progress in their game. The boys are focused on the task at hand and are working very hard in training,”Byiringiro said.

"We shall be playing against some tough sides like Ghana and Sierra Leone but we are positive that we can put up a tough challenge,” he added.
