Innocent Ndizeye, Mukura Victory Sports’ new signing from Amagaju, has been singled out for praise by his new coach Christian Francis Haringingo after he scored twice for the Peace Cup holders against Rayon Sports to maintain a perfect record in the new Azam Rwanda Premier League season.

Ndizeye led the hunt for goals for Haringingo’s side in the absence of first choice striker Jean Bertrand Iradukunda – formerly with Police FC, who was down with Malaria – and ensured the Huye-based side collected all points from their second game of the season.

"The whole team did a good job but the boy was unstoppable,” the coach said. "He was involved in a lot of things, especially in the first half.”

Ndizeye scored two first half goals to fire Mukura to a 2-1 win at Kigali Stadium on Sunday. The last time Mukura beat Rayon Sports in the league was back on October 24, 2012.

"We can’t express our excitement enough. It’s been a long time since we last beat Rayon in the league,” said Haringingo.

Ndizeye, who is known as Chamakh, upset Rayon on his Mukura debut.

He opened the scoring in the 27th minute following Yannick Mukunzi’s failure to clear the ball and doubled his side’s lead five minutes later.

After several squandered opportunities, Thierry Manzi finally scored for Rayon Sports with a magnificent header from Djabel Manishimwe’s corner in the 50th minute. 

"It was his debut and he scored twice, what a great start for him,” Mukura coach siad of their new signing.

He added: "He came close to scoring a third goal but didn’t hit the target but he scored two nice goals from the same angle. Bringing on that quality is a massive difference for us.”

"I am happy with the performance of the whole team but we conceded a goal and that is not something you want,” Haringingo, who guided Mukura Victory Sports to their first trophy after 28 years, last season, said.

Rayon’s Burundian striker Bonfils Caleb Bimenyimana had a chance to level matters two minutes after Ndayizeye’s opener but his effort was saved by in-form goalkeeper Omar Rwabugiri.

This was Mukura’s second victory over Roberto Oliveira’s side in two months having edged the Blues 3-1 in penalty shoot-outs to lift the Peace Cup title in August. 

Meanwhile, APR beat Musanze 2-0 to maintain perfect start to the season as well thanks to goals from Dominique Savio Nshuti and Muhadjiri Hakizimana.

Kirehe held AS Kigali, Amagaju played out a 1-all draw against AS Muhanga, Bugesera beat Etincelles 1-0, while Sunrise won over Gicumbi 1-0.

After two match rounds, only defending champions APR and Peace Cup holders Mukura are yet to drop points.

AS Muhanga, SC Kiyovu, Bugesera, Sunrise and Rayon Sports have four points each.
