DJUMA Masudi Irambona was on Friday afternoon unveiled as AS Kigali new head coach. The former Burundi international signed a one-year deal.

His signing put an end to speculation that had been linking their former coach Andre Casa Mbungo to a second stint with the club since last week when he (Eric Nshimiyimana) stepped down from the position.

Saturday Sport understands that Bugesera FC coach Innocent Seninga and former Rayon Sports coach Sosthene Habimana were also in the running for the club’s top managerial job.

Masudi, a former Rayon Sports midfielder and captain, joins AS Kigali after spending one season with Tanzania giants and reigning champions SC Simba, whom he signed for as assistant coach last year following his league title triumph with Rayon Sports in the 2016-17 season.

The 2013 Peace Cup winners, AS Kigali, start their 2018/2019 campaign on Sunday when they host Emmanuel Ruremesha’s Musanze FC at Kigali Stadium.

It is reported that the Ex-Rayon Sports skipper will be earning Rwf3m (USD3,500) as monthly salary.
