Players Abroad: Imanishimwe shines but Bizimana’s Kryvbas slip in title race

Left-back Emmanuel Imanishimwe had an outstanding game as his side AS FAR Rabat beat Wydad AC 1-0.

Talented lateral defender Emmanuel Imanishimwe pulled down an impressive performance in the Moroccan Botola League top liner as his side AS FAR Rabat beat Wydad AC 1-0 in crunch clash on Sunday while defensive midfielder Bonheur Mugisha had a fruitful 90 minutes as he provided the adequate cover for the back four in AS Marsa's 2-1 win over US Ben Guerden in Tunisia.

Hakim Sahabo, Abdul Rwatubyaye and Djihad Bizimana all put up great performances for their respective clubs but the latter’s draw 1-1 left his sides’ hopes of winning the league title fading as they dropped to third place in the Ukrainian Premier League.

Joel Mugisha replaced Darian Males in the 46th minute as his side Young Boys beat Luzern 4-2 at the Wandkorf Stadium in Bern on Sunday, April 14. Young Boys are at the top of the Swiss Super League table with 62 points after 32 games.

In the same division, winger Johan Marvin Kury is still battling injury and was not involved as his club Yverdon Sports were handed a 5-1 humiliation by St. Gallen.

And, in the Classica League match day 24, skipper Quentin Rushenguziminega played full throttle for FC Echallens who were pipped 1-0 by Grand-Saconnex.

Sweden

Midfielder Rafael York is expected to start for Gefle IF in Monday’s clash with Degefors in match day three of the Superettan League. His younger brother, Torre Rafael was part of the OSIF side that beat Friska Vilijor in the third league.

Menawhile, Lague Byiringiro and Yannick Mukunzi were not in the Sandviken squad which lost 1-0 to Trelleborgs.

Norway

Claus Babo Niyukuri saw fulltime action for FK Haugesund who beat Tromso 1-0 in matchday 3 of the Norwegian Eliteserien.

Betran Nishimwe Mvuka, the senior brother of Joel Mugisha, had 93 minutes of action before being substituted as his team Sandefjord recorded a pulsating 2-2 draw with ODD.

Winger Emmanuel Baru Gisa did not make the Fram Larvik squad which lost 2-1 to Brodd while goalkeeper Clement Twizere Buhake was in the posts for Ull/Kisa in their 2-1 defeat to his former club Strommen IF.

Ukraine

Amavubi skipper Djihad Bizimana was introduced into the game in the 38th minute as his side Kryvbas drew 1-1 with Rukh Vynnyky. Kryvbas have now slipped to 3rd place on the league table with 48 points, four points behind leaders Shakhtar Donetsk who have played two games less.

Macedonia

Central defender Abdul Rwatubyaye returned from suspension to bring stability to the FC Shkupi defense as they thrashed Makedonija 3-1. He lasted 90 minutes.

Netherlands

Winger Noam Emeran was an unused substitute for FC Gronningen who beat VVV Venlo 1-0 in the Dutch Eerste Divisie.

USA

Youngster Sanders Ngabo who is eligible to play for Rwanda, Denmark and Burundi, was not in the Philadelphia Union team which drew 2-2 with Atalanta United in the MLS.

Striker Innocent Nshuti featured full time for One Knoxville FC who lost 1-0 to Union Omaha on Saturday, April 13.

Latvia

Dylan Georges Maes defended gallantly for 90 minutes as his club Jelgava drew goalless with Auda in match day 6 of the Latvian Virsliga.

Morocco

Left-back Emmanuel Imanishimwe put up an excellent show and played 90 minutes for AS FAR Rabat who rivals WAC 1-0 in the Moroccan "El Classico" on Saturday, April 13 to maintain their four-point lead at the top of the table with 61 points.

Tunisia

Defensive midfielder Bonheur Mugisha enjoyed 90 minutes for AS Marsa who beat US Ben Guerden 2-1 in the Ligue 1.

South Africa

Goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari’s four-clean sheet run came to an end as fifth-placed TS Galaxy suffered a 2-0 home defeat to relegation-threatened Chippa United at the Mbombela Stadium.

Kenya
