Rwandan women to attend Entrepreneurs’ meeting

Rwanda will next week take part in a two-day Eastern African Entrepreneurs Exchange Network meeting in Uganda.

Teddy Bibonobono, the Director of the Chamber of Women Entrepreneurs in the Private Sector Federation (PSF) confirmed.

According to Bibonobono, the meeting is aimed at networking women entrepreneurs in the region. It aims at enabling women meet at a round table and exchange business ideas, share challenges and develop new ideas in business.

"The speed at which Rwandan women need to develop their businesses so as to make a remarkable contribution to the economic growth of their country makes the meeting important,” Bibonobono said.

Topics to be discussed include experience of women entrepreneurs in export trade, trade expansion and diversifying means through which women at the grassroots can also engage in business and perform successfully, among others.

Twenty Rwandan women are expected to attend the meeting. Among them will be Janet Nkubana of Gahaya links, Sylvie Mukamusoni of Bambino Super city, Symphrose Mukamazimpaka operating La petit Prince Hotel in Huye and Kigali and many others.

"When we come back we have to organise a national round table to devise means of sharing the gains of the meeting with other women who will not attend the meeting” Bibonobono responded when asked how some Rwandan business women who operate small and medium businesses will benefit from the meeting.

Other countries expected at the meeting include Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, and Ethiopia among other countries. The theme for the meeting is Building synergistic networks for business, trade and women’s economic empowerment.
