The School of Finance and Banking (SFB) yesterday held the opening event for the Captains of Industry project (COI) which is a project to empower young people to start and learn to manage their own businesses.

The event took place at the institution and was attended by Joseph Ndungu the Nakumatt country manager, who encouraged students to work hard and always go the extra mile if they are to succeed in business.

"You have to work very hard and go the extra mile and try to establish good customer service,” Ndungu said.

The project is under AIESEC (Association Internationale des Étudiants en Sciences Économiques et Commerciales), an international organisation that acts as a platform for young people to discover and develop their potential. The project will last six months.

"We have benefited greatly from these programs because we are able to practice what we learn in class and also network with other AIESEC members in other countries,” said Sophie Kaiganwa, the vice president of the club at SFB.

AIESEC is an international organisation in over 110 countries and 800 Universities. It helps provide students with skills and develop members through conferences and global exchange of knowledge and experiences and opportunities.
