He last held a musical performance in Rwanda in April this year, at the Mo Ibrahim Concert, at the Kigali Convention Center.
Now Nigerian singer Rudeboy, real name Paul Okoye, is set for yet another performance, this time at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) gala that is scheduled for October 20th in Kigali.
Rwanda was again chosen to host the 14th edition of the AMAAs, two years after first hosting the event in 2016. The event is slated for the new Intare Conference Arena, in Gasabo District in the City of Kigali.
Established in 2005, the awards seek to recognise and reward excellence of African film industry professionals and practitioners both on the continent and in the diaspora.
Before embarking on a solo career, Rudeboy was one half of the Nigerian music duo P-square. The other member was his identical twin brother Peter Okoye.
The two went their separate ways in September last year, with each subsequently embarking on a solo career.
As a group, the duo first made international headway in 2008, with the hit song, ‘Do Me’.
Since embarking on his solo music journey, Rudeboy has released hits like ‘Fire fire’, ‘Somebody Baby’, ‘Nkenji Keke’, ‘Reality’, and ‘Is Allowed’, among others.
Organisers are still tight lipped about the local entertainers that will perform alongside Rudeboy.
Local comedian and radio personality Arthur Nkusi will be the event’s Master of Ceremonies.
